Guitar String Note Trainer

About this project:

There’s an app on the app store (which to be fair, did work quite well) that allowed you to do the same thing this website does. I figured why not make a website that can do it so I don’t have to pay for an app? And now you can use this too, enjoy!

This is a simple project I made to help learn the frets on the guitar. It uses the user’s microphone to listen for certain pitches while displaying a note (which can be selected to target specific areas of learning, like certain strings or just whole notes). Once the note is played, it prompts the user to play another. There are also options to toggle the tolerance and to select another note in the case of error. It should work on all browsers, even mobile!

There is no reason that this couldn’t be used to recognize the notes on other instruments as well, considering it simply recognizes pitches. If people want a piano trainer or other instrument and I can find the layout of the instrument, I’ll update this site to be a general pitch trainer.
